Bristol Ladies Union FC was formed from the merger of the girls' sections of Shirehampton Colts FC and Rockleaze Rangers FC, with the University of Bristol Women's FC in June 2008.
This exciting development now gives the club access to some of the best coaching and playing facilities outside of the city's professional clubs. The club provides the opportunity for girls and women to play football, from the age of six years old in the junior section, right through to the senior team playing in the South West Women's League Premier Division, writes Club Secretary, Darrell Hawkes.
Our ethos is based on player enjoyment and player development. At the younger age groups the emphasis is on non-competitive play, with older age groups moving into competitive league football. We operate a policy that does not discriminate on the basis of ability - we welcome all players to join and have fun playing football.
We have a thriving Senior's, Girls and Junior's sections. All teams are based at the suberb Coombe Dingle Sports Complex in North Bristol.
The Seniors train on Saturday mornings 11.00am-12.30pm (grass) and on Tuesday evenings from 7.30pm-9.00pm (astro turf) and play on Sunday afternoons in the Premier Division of the South West Women\'s Football League.
The Girls (U11s to U14s) play on Sunday mornings from 10 - 12. The emphasis is on developing the skills of the players in the competitive environment of the Bristol Girls League.
The Juniors (U6s to U10s) play on a Saturday from 10 - 12. They concentrate on skills development and inclusiveness, with weekly skills sessions and organised friendlies on an informal basis against other teams.
We have FA qualified coaches helping every year group in the Youths and the Juniors and all coaches are CRB checked.
